Saying goodbye to a long time Allis Collector, and friend to The Allis Connection.

Joseph C. Bergfeld, 74, of Epworth, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at his home in Epworth, Iowa. 

A Private visitation will be held at the Reiff Funeral Home in Peosta, Iowa.  Burial will be held in St. John’s Cemetery in Placid, Iowa.

He was born May 13, 1949, in Cascade, Iowa, son of James E. and Clara (Behnke) Bergfeld.  He received his education in the St. Patrick’s school and was a 1967 graduate of Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa.  On May 13, 1983, he was united in marriage to Cecilia Urbain at St. John’s Catholic Church in Placid, Iowa.  

He farmed in the rural Epworth area-In his life, “The Cows came first.”  Joe enjoyed collecting Allis Chalmers tractors, tractor rides, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Epworth, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Bergfeld of Epworth, IA; his children, Heidi (Brandon) Lingle of Hudson, IA, and Holly (Lucas) Garrigus of Dubuque, IA; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Harper; and his faithful companion, Ginger.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Ray and Helen Urbain and a brother-in-law, Bruce Hammons.
